Bag Closer (sewing machine)

I have an endless supply of cracked corn and a problem storing it once it is cleaned and sized. Recycling bags makes a lot of sense. I can get as many 50# kraft paper salt bags as I can carry out. Problem is how to re-close them efficiently and in a way that allows them to be re-palleted when filled with the cracked corn. Back to the internet for answers.
I had noticed the mill sewed Our bags shut after making a batch of feed and wondered
what they used to do that. YouTube gave some pretty neat clips on the use of such a do-hickey. That was simple enough, now how much will it cost? I did a search on the venerable Ebay site and there is Your answer. as much as Your willing to spend. I tried to buy a used Fischbien closer, that went south fast when it was $100.00 more than a (import) new one with full warranty could be purchased for. So I bought a New one for the princely sum of 200 bucks shipping included. I figure for the 50 or 60 bags a month I plan on filling it will work just fine.
It came in today and I am digesting the 4 or 5 pages of instructions that came with 3 of them being the parts book.

I found an old Fischbein model D on Ebay of all places
It was broke, Huge surprise right. It has a broken motor hinge plate but it was dirt cheap on a buy-it-now. It showed up looking all of its years and I figured what the heck and located a seller that had a motor hinge for sale and I bought it. Finally put it together this morning and ran outside to finish bagging up the last hopper of cracked corn We sorted out. I was not even sure if it would work, a bent needle is death to those things and I did not have any spares. It did not let its reputation down, That machine ran like a new one. what a superior sewer over that chinese POS. Goes to show, You can copy it all day long but the proof is in the pudding. Those chinamen need to go back to the drawing board and teach their workers how to fit & finish parts. Super cheap mass production is no substitute for CRAFTSMANSHIP. It is a testimony to the way Real Industrial Nations choose quality over quantity. I would rebuild an old machine any day over the crummy imports offered for sale today. I guess if it says made in USA, Canada, Germany, Great Britton, Austrailia, New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland, Holland, England, France, or any Other Great Industrialized Nations (including anything made in Japan or Taiwan in the last 30 years) I want to say Thank You, I never question the quality of Your workmanship or material. To the rest of You, I only have this to say, Keep Your junk, WE DON'T WANT IT
