Default pictures of the 1936 RC CASE

Firestone 9.00 X 36 balloon tires I suspect this was the very first tractor tread tire style tire Firestone ever marketed. (note the early style cast iron rim)

Simple mag side shot of the engine

front tire and rim the line above the axel nut is how far it settled in the barn floor since the early 60s when it was stored away

Hydraulic damage from the rust between the mating surfaces. Plenty of opportunity to practice cast repairs on this radiator

Default more picture of the RC

This shot if the tractor is interesting because it tells a lot more that the first glance reveals, the space between the engine pan and the ground was enough to side You hand under. The siding on the opposite side of the tractor is a very recent repair, the evidence of the oxidation and ozone damage to the tires showed how long the barn wall was left open. look at the front tire then compare it to the open shot on the trailer of the same angle, those tires rotted off decades ago.

This interesting device is the drive extension for a sickle attachment of Case Manufacture. some of the mower parts were in scrap piles scattered through the auction

Any clue as to what the 3 prong hickey is ? fisrt glance would indicate a cup holder But My real guess is a oiler can storage place

An excellent shot after being freed from a dirt prison for near 50 years. the line on the rim is the level it settled to over the past 4 1/2 decades

I found an unmolested near perfect swatch of paint under the hood on the back of the radiator. It is almost a perfect shade of gray with the ever slightly tinge of green in it. not at all the pasty white-grey I have seen so many RCs painted. We will have no trouble color matching the shade.

Over all I am confident this is a excellent tractor, It shows the Original Owner
did good maintenance to it and shows no abuse or shoemaker repair work anywhere. There is not the slightest grooves at all on the belt pulley from the brake, and the crown point is still clean and sharp, this tractor was not used for belt work. So far the only thing I found outright missing is the radiator cap

The first order of business is the frozen right brake, the band and the rust were
not distinguishable from each other. I would like to get it on tires and rolling around again. The brakes are a minor concern I will have new bands rolled and
linings riveted up in no time flat.

Frank, I am loving what I see. That looks like an excellent candidate to get going. Let me know if you need a hood, as I might have an extra one laying around that I might sell.
Can't get enough of the RC's

I am loving this also, I Think I am going to continue this thread until the tractor is finished. Anyone is welcome to put up pictures of their R or RC tractors along with this one. Brent in Mo has a couple of RCs that have not been posted here yet. One of them is a pretty nice overhead steered 36 model on cutoffs
The person that did it made a very unique job of it and it was well done
I have 2 other RCs in various stages of repair and true be known the one is stalled until I decide how to handle some very sticky engine repairs, parts for the FC and FK engines are very scarce. It is like the engine fell off the world and the aftermarket just quit servicing parts for them. I have scoured the internet looking for parts and have found some pretty nice things in My forays on the WEB. But the dry sleeves for the block have just not been available at any price.

If Your new to this forum come on in and ask questions and comments. We love to talk this old rusty stuff. also dont be afraid to ask how or why We do something. and remember My email is always open and I answer every one that contacts Me. It might be late at night, But I check when I come in

I have a quick update.

The head is removed from the engine and I also removed the manifold
and carburetor. Every thing in the engine looks ok, I have a piston stuck,
looks to be the #1 cylinder. The manifold was fule of dirt and crud clear to the top of the exhaust elbow. I am pretty sure I was able to salvage the rusty old carb, It caused a considerable amount of grief dismantling it.
I have a number of parts carbs to remove certain needed pieces from.
Than God for Ebay, There is a perfect example of one Persons junk being
another Persons treasure. I will load some progress pictures later on

Frank, we need some progress pictures Buddy! How is the old girl coming along?
I took the RC to a local tractor show that is featuring Case this weekend. She is currently sitting next to another (early) '36 RC. I was quite surprised to see another RC at the show, but come to find out it is one that I tried in vain to buy or over 10 years from a guy. He finally gave it up to a gentleman that lives about 15 miles from me. The tractor looks to have been mostly restored in recent years, but is painted the darker CC gray. It is serial number 300980, which makes it earlier than either of my 2 RC's.
Frank, I think we need to start a registry and see how many RC's are left out there.
I hope to get a couple of pictures of the RC at the show.

I have the head off of the engine and the manifold is cleaned although I am not sure I will reuse it. The carb is almost done I just need to canaballize a few pieces out of My stash of 193 1/2 zeniths to complete it
The brakes are free and I will need to roll new bands. This RC is an early one that used a lot of 35 parts. The brake housing is void of a recess for the seal.
it just intercepts the oil and drains it back to the transmission
The back tires are all broken free of the rims I have not unbolted the rim portions yet, I am still studying the axle and hubs to see if they are going to
fight me comming off. At some point the wheels where turned clamp in and I want to reverse that.I like the clamp out and it will also cover the pitting
on the axle shaft. As of this time I have worked so much overtime there simply is not enough hours in a day to clean up a building to put tractors away, and the list is getting longer, 7 prewar Cases now. and a rogue
CO-OP E3 dont even ask about the pile at dads place, I keep telling Him I will come and haul them home But it aint happened yet.

the front one is a "36" or "37" RC the back one is a very rare early production 1938 R
